Days of Heaven Upon Earth

Christ is the head

~ Eph 5:23

Often we want people to pray for us and help us, but always defeat our object when we look too much to them and lean upon them. The true secret of union is for both to look upon God, and in the act of looking past themselves to Him they are unconsciously united. The sailor was right when he saw the little boy fall overboard and waited a minute before he plunged to his rescue. When the distracted mother asked him in agony why he had waited so long, he sensibly replied: I knew that if I went in before he would clutch and drag me down. I waited until his struggles were over, and then I was able to help him when he did not grasp me too strongly.

When people grasp us too strongly, either with their love or with their dependence, we are intuitively conscious that they are not looking to God, and we become paralyzed in our efforts to help them. United prayer, therefore, requires that the one for whom we pray be looking away from us to the Lord Jesus Christ, and we together look to Him alone.

Evening Prayer

VICTORY OVER TEMPTATION
1 Corinthians 10:12-13

In Jesus’ Name, I Pray God’s Will for You

I pray that you will always stand firm against temptation and be careful that you will not fall into the enemy’s traps. May you remember that no temptation has seized you which has not been experienced by man, for God will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. I pray that when you are tempted by the devil, God will provide a way out. I pray that you will have the strength to withstand the temptation, and take the way out that God provides. May you always have victory over sin and temptation.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Morning Prayer

FRUITFUL FOR HIS GLORY
John 12:24; John 15:16; Philippians 1:11

In Jesus’ Name, I Pray God’s Will for You Today

I pray that you will be fruitful in the things God has appointed you to do. May you understand that He chose you to go and bear fruit; fruit that will last. May you not worry about the money or resources you need to accomplish the work of the Father, for He has promised to provide you with whatever you ask in Jesus’ name. I pray that you will not worry about gaining honor or recognition for your work, for unless you die to such fleshly desires, you cannot bear fruit. May you concern yourself only with the task at hand of proclaiming the righteousness that comes through Christ. I pray that you will be fruitful to the glory and praise of God.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

This is Love

This is real love ~ not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

~ 1 John 4:10 [NLT]

This is the love of a God worth serving, it’s love that is given freely! Love that is proven through sacrifice and is not dependent on our own ability to earn it. This is the love that our God extends to us. The only thing we have to do is accept it and allow it to be the guiding light of our lives.

Morning Prayer

SPIRITUAL WARFARE
2 Corinthians 10:2-5

In Jesus’ Name, I Pray God’s Will for You Today

I pray that you will have the power to demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God. May you take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. I pray that you will not live by the standards of this world, for though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. I pray that you will not fight with the weapons of this world, but with God’s divine power – the weapon that can demolish strongholds. May you learn to use the Word of God at all times and experience victory over the enemy.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Evening Prayer

OBSERVE THE SABBATH
Exodus 20:8-11

In Jesus’ Name, I Pray God’s Will for You

May you always remember to dedicate a Sabbath day for the Lord. For six days you shall work, but the seventh day should be devoted to Him. I pray that you will learn to make it a holy day of communion with our Lord. May you spend that day resting in the presence of the Lord, seeking and listening to His voice. May you spend the day praising and worshiping His glorious name. I pray that you will not allow the fast pace of this world to compromise your Sabbath with Him.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Daily Prayer Guide

Thou wilt guide me with thy counsel, And afterward receive me to glory.

~ Ps 73:24

Who serves his country well has no need of ancestors.

~ Voltaire

Lo, Spring comes forth with all her warmth and
love,
She brings sweet justice from the realms above;
She breaks the chrysalis, she resurrects the dead;
Two butterflies ascend encircling her head.
And so this emblem shall forever be
A sign of immortality.

~ Joseph Jefferson

Lord God, I pray that I may not neglect my soul in trying to fathom immortal life. If I may be hesitating between comfort and work, remind me of the greatness of the place which I started to reach. May I not grow weary of climbing and falter on the stair. Breathe upon me thy inspiration and love, that I may continue in faith all the way. Amen.

Daily Quiet Time

By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed.

~ Heb 11:8

Whither he went, he knew not; it was enough for him to know that he went with God. He leant not so much upon the promises as upon the Promiser. He looked not on the difficulties of his lot, but on the King, eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, who had deigned to appoint his course, and would certainly vindicate Himself. O glorious faith! This is thy work, these are thy possibilities: contentment to sail with sealed orders, because of unwavering confidence in the love and wisdom of the Lord High Admiral: willinghood to rise up, leave all, and follow Christ, because of the glad assurance that earth’s best cannot bear comparison with heaven’s least.

Daily Light on The Daily Path

He shall see of the travail of his soul and shall be satisfied.

~ Isa 53:11

Jesus … said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise. To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, according to the eternal purpose which be purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord. That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

After that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
